
The rain had stopped, but the air inside the boys’ hostel still felt thick and heavy. Arjun’s room was ready: mattress on the floor, eight lengths of rope, the leather belt, a small bottle of oil, and one empty collar waiting on the table beside the seven already being worn under clothes.
